Because I’m happy. Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof. Because I’m happy. Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth. Because I’m happy. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you. Because I’m happy. Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do.
Happy – Pharrell Williams
If I offered you a key to happiness, would you take it? What if I told you this particular key could change your life? That it would provide you with the freedom to live life with less worry, less guilt, less shame, less negativity and less drama. That the majority of problems in your life would diminish and could even disappear. This key will make you look more youthful, give you more energy, more focus, more drive, more vision, and more clarity along with better sleep, and healthier skin, nails, and hair. That you would be able to better connect with others and with yourself. All of this would be possible with this key. Would you take it?
You can have this key forever but there is one condition. You stop drinking alcohol. Would you take it now?
I can’t guarantee anything in this life except one thing – Life does not get worse when you stop drinking alcohol. At the bare minimum, your physical health improves automatically. And while the mental, emotional, and spiritual improvement requires some dedicated hard work on your part, if it means having everything I described and more, why wouldn’t you take it? Why wouldn’t you at least try?
And what is more amazing is that along with this key of happiness, I’ll give you a full satisfaction guarantee or your drinking back! You can always go back to drinking if you choose. But I can tell you that if you put in the hard work and give it an honest try, you won’t want to give the key back. And when I say try, I mean try. None of this giving up booze for a couple days or a couple weeks. Hell, even a couple months isn’t truly long enough. It took me almost an entire year of not drinking before I genuinely began to recognize the changes and how these changes impacted not just my current life but my future. I could not even fathom the impact when I first started. I literally couldn’t imagine it. I had no idea what to expect. Even at half a year, ten months in, it still hadn’t hit me yet. Of course I noticed the smaller, more short term changes. But long term, end game, future life changing impacts? That required some serious skin in the game. And honestly, at the end of the day, there is nothing I can say that will convince you. You have to be willing to experience it for yourself.
If you’re listing the reasons in your head as to why you should wait to quit or why you can’t quit, just be honest with yourself. Be honest with yourself that all of those thoughts are excuses. Excuses that you are using to try and convince yourself that there is no reason to change. Even if you don’t have “a problem”, I encourage you to look at your relationship with alcohol, just for fun and think about what I’m proposing. I know that it is easier to stay than it is to leave. I know that feeling uncomfortable is no fun. I know it’s an uneasy feeling to go against the norm, to stand up against peer pressure, and to be different. I also know that all of this is a result of fear. Fear of the unknown. Fear of change. Just fear. But tell me, do you really want fear to be what stops you?
There are many keys to happiness that we all search as we move through life. Whether it’s finding and pursuing a passion, the love from a relationship, living a life of travel, or having children – whatever it is, everyone has their own unique keys they are looking for. But the reality is, we don’t always find all of the keys we are searching for; if we are lucky, we may get one or two. So, why wouldn’t anyone immediately choose to grab hold of this key that I’m telling you is right in front of you, available at any time, with all that it has to offer?
After everything you just read, what do you think? How do you feel?
I’ll leave you with one final thought. With this key, I promise your life can be truly spectacular.
